Spotlight & Professional Profiles
Your profile is often your first audition.
Casting teams may decide whether to invite you to audition before they've ever met you. A clear, accurate and professional profile helps them understand who you are and the work you're right for.

Your profile doesn't need to tell people everything about you. It simply needs to represent you honestly and make it easy for casting to see where you fit.

Keep everything current

Small details make a difference
Your headshots should look like you.

Casting Directors want to recognise you when you walk into the room.Â
Avoid photographs that are heavily edited or dramaticlly different
from your current appearance.

Choose images that feel honest, engaging and professionally taken.Â
Â
Quality is important, but authenticity matter even more.
Every career starts somewhere.

Whether you've worked professionally
for years or you're adding your very first credit, present your experience
clearly and honestly.

Don't worry about making a profile look bigger that it is. Genuine experience, accurately presented, is always more valuable than trying to impress.
Try to keep your profile updated with:
-
Current headshots
-
Accurate measurements
-
Playing age
-
Credits and training
-
Skills and specialisms

If something changes, don't wait months to update it. A profile should reflect the performer you are now, not six months ago.

Working With the CameraÂ
Let the camera capture the performance — whether you're speaking or singing.
A self-tape is still a performance, but the camera brings the audience much closer. Whether you're working with a scene or a song, you don't eed to push the performance towards the lens. Trust the preparation you've done and allow the camera to capture it.
For singers, think beyond simply producing the best vocal sound you can. The song still needs intention, connection and storytelling. Know who you are singing to, what you want and why you're singin these wo. ds now. Let the vocal technique support the performance rather than becoming the performance.

Be aware of framing too. Unless the brief tells you otherwise, make sure casting can see enough of you to experience the performance naturally. Don't become concerned with staying perfectly still or perfectly positioned that you stop communicating.

For acting material, keep your eyeline consistent and allow your reader to give you something to respond to. You don't need to demonstrate every though ot reaction. Listen, think and trust that the camera will pick up more than you realise.

And for both, don't be frightened of stillness. Connection doesn't require constant movement. Sometimes the most compelling moment is simply allowing the thought, lyric or emotion to land.
Don't perform at the camera. Let the camera capture the work.
Show what
makes you you
Self-tapes, showreels & voice reels
If you're represented by The Noteworthy Approach
Special Skills often help casting imagine possibilities.

Languages, musical instruments dance styles, sports, accents, licences or unusual talents
can all be useful.

Include the things you can genuinely do well rather than creating a long list of things you're unsure about.
Good media supports your profile.

If you have a showreel, voice reel or self-tape clips, make sure they represent your current work and the level you're performing at today.

As your experience grows, your materials should grow with you.

Quality is always more important than quantity.
We'll regularly review your professional profile with you.

If we feel a headshot no longer reflects you, your credits need updating or your materials could be strengthened, we'll let you know and explain why.

Our aim isn't to have the
businest profile.

It's to have one that gives casting an honest, professional picture of who you are today.
A profile is never truly finished. It grows as your career grows.
Keep it current. Keep it truthful. Let your work speak for itself.
